To make know to the tourist on holiday in Lignano the wine quality and variety, the association “Lignano nel terzo millennio” organizes in Pineta “Meet the writer and wine” (Incontri con l’autore e con il vino) and this summer also the event “Wine on the beach” (Vini d’autore al mare).

This event aims to guide all participants to explore special DOC wines of the region with tastings on the terraces of the beach offices in Lignano Pineta. Especially, guided tastings take place on the terrace of beach office 2 for still 3 Friday: the 22nd of July, the 5th and 12th of August.

From 18.30 it is possible to taste free wines suggested by oenologist in a location out of the ordinary, watching the beach and the sea, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It is very easy to reach the beach office 2, because it leans towards Piazza Marcello D’Olivo, the large square that opens out directly on the beach. Within walking distance for tourists who accommodate in Lignano Pineta, reachable also by bike or with buses, the square is the focal point of the area, also location of many concerts and sporting events during the entire summer season.

“Vini d’autore al mare” is a very appreciated event because it allows everyone, especially tourists staying in the apartments of Lignano and don’t have time to make an excursion, to know the wines of Friuli. In this way it brings the regional specialities on the beach, offering to tourist a more pleasant memory of its holiday in Lignano.

A beautiful walk in Lignano Sabbiadoro

Sunday 27th of March takes place in Lignano the 10th See Walk, a race for amateur organised by Athletic Club Apicilia of Latisana.

This race is born with the aim to involve all people, from children to adults, to spend some hours in the open air in the green of Lignano Pineta and Lignano Riviera in a period of the year where the climate is mild. To reach this aim, the walk is open to all and presents courses of different length to do with free walk. Those who are trained, can run, but other people can walk and stroll with friends through the pine wood and then  the beach of Lignano, to the Park Hemingway, departure and arrival point. Participants can so also enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Lignano Pineta and Lignano Riviera and discover enchanting places, where also stroll often.

It is possible to register as individuals, groups or families and at the end of the race it is given an award to larger groups. The registration is made directly in Hemingway Park in Lignano Pineta the day of the race from 8 to 9.30 am, only groups must have a form with the list of all participants. The start is free from 9 to 9.30 am and the end of the race is at the arrival of the last participant and anyway not over 1 pm.

From the Hemingway Park participants will run until the centre of Lignano Pineta, where Barcamania waits for them, and the they will continue to Lignano Riviera and the Zoo letting behind road and dirt road and ending with a nice run on the sand until the park, departure and arrival point.

At the arrival there will be water, tea and biscuits for all, and also awards for larger groups. This walk has not a ranking, because it is a in amateur race and anybody can make it.

The aim of Athletic Club Apicilia is to offer the opportunity to take part in this event and spend a morning in the nature, discovering the beauties of Lignano Pineta and Lignano Riviera.

The city of Lignano Sabbiadoro begins already to dress up for the Christmas time.

Most part of open shops offer windows decorated with Christmas trees, decorations, snowy landscapes, snowflakes and snowmen. Along the streets of the pedestrian zone in Lignano Sabbiadoro and in the biggest roundabout of the city begins also the preparation for the firs rich in lights and decorations and for the illuminations.
Just in Piazza Fontana, the centre of the seaside resort, reach the height of the beauty with the lights that from its high fir radiate along the pedestrian streets and towards Terrazza a Mare, where will be organized the Sand Crib.

Concerning this, preparations are well under way, so that the tension structure is already assembled and, as promised by the organizer Lignano in Fiore, it is much larger than in previous years. Differently from past years, the big tent is set up directly on the beach and not on the square. This decision was taken by organizers to facilitate the flood of thousands of visitors. All this suggests a very special Sand Crib, which will leave everyone speechless.
The opening of the beautiful work will be Saturday, December 4th at 5.00 p.m. and it will be open to visitors until January 9th, 2011 at the following times: from Sunday 5th to Wednesday 8th December and from Saturday, December 11th to Sunday, January 9th from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 a.m. and from 2.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., while in the remaining days only in the afternoon.

Probably also this year the centre of Lignano Sabbiadoro will be gladdened by sweet music broadcasted by loudspeakers on the streets, which cheers up the stroll and make the atmosphere much more magical. Despite the cold, many people are happy to spend afternoons during the weekends in the seaside resort walking not only along the promenade, but also on the beach. Here children can run and play free all they want and the beach of Lignano in winter is also the right place for those who love ride and for those who like to play with dogs. Near Lignano Sabbiadoro there are different riding stables where it is possible to rent a beautiful horse and reach the beach through paths on the banks of the lagoon and in the pine wood.

For the lovers of shopping, instead, Lignano offers also in winter open shops, that increase during the Christmas time. The stroll becomes an opportunity to buy a present, a flower, a decoration for the home, a dress for Christmas or a perfume, and also to spend a relaxing moment in a warm and elegant café. Coffees, teas and hot chocolates give off their aromas out of the cafés and the evening is the moment of aperitif. Music, spritz, a bit of summer nostalgia and a lot of joy for the arrival of Christmas and New Year fill the cafés until evening.

To allow that also this year the Christmas time is full of emotions and of opportunities to meet the inhabitants of the seaside resort and the guests, Lignano already begins to prepare illuminations and decorations. The lit up city centre with tiny blue-violet stars, the music and the firs make even more magical the beach and the sea of Lignano Sabbiadoro.

Many tourists on the beach in Lignano for Ferragosto

Despite the rain of the previous days and the hazardous weather forecast, the day of Ferragosto the beach of Lignano was completely full. The sun was not so present in these days, but since the morning of Ferragosto shone it on the golden beach and warmed the air.

Tourists staying in hotels and apartments in Lignano were finally able to leave their accommodations and jump immediately to the beach to spend the most important day of summer, the Ferragosto (Assumption), with parties and dinners under the beach umbrella. Children and adults overflowed the sea, despite the water was not so hot…but when you are on holiday at the beach, you must go for a dip and swim! With the passing of the hours, the beach filled up more and more, thanks also to the commuters, who flooded in Lignano since the early afternoon because the good weather and the show of Frecce Tricolori (Tricolour Arrows).

The air show of Ferragosto Viva Lignano 2010 was successful: about 100.000 people from the beach and many others from the terraces of the apartments of apartment blocks in Lignano Sabbiadoro watched the show of Frecce Tricolori. The show started at 5 p.m. with exhibitions of helicopters of Air Force, planes of flying club of Pordenone and other teams including the Audace Team (Audacious Team), the only patrol of motor paraglider in the world.

At 6.20 p.m. was the moment for Frecce Tricolori and their aerobatics, that for 25 minutes caught the attention of all tourists in Lignano Sabbiadoro. It must be said that Frecce Tricolori are at home in Lignano, because in the winter months they train in the sky of the seaside resort. The show of Ferragosto becomes also a way to thank the entire city, that offers its airspace for the winter training. After the acclaimed air show, tourists were back in the water to continue the party for Ferragosto.

Many clubs of Lignano celebrated the Ferragosto with their guests, preparing special meals and offering colourful summer cocktails. Until late at night the pedestrian area in Sabbiadoro swarmed with people and many young people continued the party in the discos of the seaside resort.

Theme parties in swimming pools, in the gardens, marathons of Ferragosto in different discos open until the morning and foam parties in others. And in a well-known café in Lignano Pineta the party was in Christmas theme with also the snow at the end!

All that for the fun of the many young people that chose to spend the holiday in Lignano Sabbiadoro.

Shops for every taste in Lignano, open from morning until evening

The agency Arena offers most of its apartments in Lignano Sabbiadoro, the heart of the Friulian seaside resort.

The area of Sabbiadoro is the oldest, the core from which the city has evolved, street after street and house after house, in the seaside resort that many tourists now know. Soft, fine and golden sand welcomes all guests of Lignano, equipped with beach umbrellas, sunbeds and deckchairs, in addition to showers with hot and cold water, restaurant-cafés and animation from morning until evening. Terrazza a Mare is the meeting-place of all young people during the beach holiday in Lignano Sabbiadoro: here it is possible to sip a cocktail on the terrace and to dance in the discotheque with sea view. And near the sign of the seaside resort, it is located the Beach Village, a free fun village open from June until September with games, dance and events, the VIP Area on the beach with gazeboes, curtains and Jacuzzis on the sand, and the Beach Arena with its international sporting events and free concerts.

Sabbiadoro is also the kingdom of shopping with its very long pedestrian street rich in shops of prestigious brands, but also souvenirs shops and bazaars. And between a dress and a pair of shoes there is time for a good ice cream. In the evening the pedestrian area changes its face thanks to the lighted shop windows and the street artists who entertain children and adults. From the evening the trendy cafés fill up with young people for the ritual of the aperitif, whereas immediately thereafter pizzerias and restaurants are ready to welcome tourists. After dinner, the cocktail-bars are the protagonists with music and theme evenings, but who wants to try something different, goes in the beach bars to dance barefoot on the sand under the stars until late at night.

Are you interested in bicycles, motorbikes or cars? The beach of Lignano Sabbiadoro offers two weekends exclusively to the world of wheels and accessories with the new event Ruotamania.

From Saturday, October the 17th, to Sunday, October the 25th, the pedestrian zone of Sabbiadoro turns into an exhibition ground with more than 30 exhibitors. Here you can find the stand with vintage cars and motorcycles, the stand with the latest models, in addition to cycling, motorcycling and car associations and federations, ready to answer every question and curiosity. Ruotamania is not only  a show, but it is also a market: it is possible to arrange for the purchase of a car, a motorcycle, a bike or a quad.

During this two weekends, the main street of Lignano turns into an important showcase of wheels, where exhibitors and associations are available to give all requested information and to show their models. Also the beach of Lignano Sabbiadoro changes his face and it offers as racetrack with bends and dunes. The courses, near Terrazza a Mare, are open to all who wish to experience the thrill of driving a car or a quad on the sand and so live exciting test drive.

Those who prefer to cycle, can take part in the first Ruotamania trophy, cycle race on road for amateurs, Sunday, October 18th. The start is at 10.30 a.m. from Terrazza a Mare and the race stretches along different towns near Lignano, in an attractive course of 79 km through beautiful landscapes.

Not only engines and fascinating vintage and modern models, but also safety driving. Ruotamania offers also road safety education to all visitors, but especially to young people of high school of Udine province. The Italian Motorcycle Federation and the Moto Club Sabbiadoro offer different courses of safety driving from Piazza Fontana to Terrazza a Mare to sensitize public about the importance of a careful driving. During two weekends, federations, associations and police are at disposal to offer useful information about road safety, the new road code, drive licence and much more.

From vintage car to quad, from fully equipped motorcycle to bicycle, from test drive to suggestions for a good maintenance of the vehicle. In Ruotamania there is also the solidarity. Profits of the event, organized by the association Onlus “A smile from a wave”, are directed to the children of the region in socio-economic difficult.

The event binds itself with the solidarity, but also with the revitalization of Lignano Sabbiadoro during low season periods with the organization of events and shows. In this way the association wants to deseasonalize the seaside resort through a collaboration with all strengths of the towns to reappraise Lignano also during the winter season.

For three years the first weekend of September in Lignano Sabbiadoro is characterized by the “Grape treading under the stars”. A special event to say good-bye to the summer in an amusing way and also to relive the ancient Italian tradition of treading grapes with the feet, but in open air, on the beach and under a starry night.

This year the “Grape treading under the stars” will take place Saturday, September the 5th, from 9.30 p.m. in the Beach Village in Lignano Sabbiadoro, located in beach office n° 4 on Lungomare Trieste. Here, on a special cart provided for the event, a lot of participants will dance barefoot on grapes in big wine vats.

A very special end-summer-party: it’s not every day to press the grapes on the beach and a short walk from Terrazza a Mare. And by tradition, grape treaders will be beautiful girls with coloured dresses.

This year “Grape treading under the stars” will have some news more: the dancers can choose to dance on stage or on grapes. It’s a real show complete with winner and election of Miss Grape Treading 2009. To win, the girls must show, in addition to the beauty, the ability in the grape treading.

“Grape treading under the stars” was a big success right from the start because spectators have a lot of fun watching the shows and the grape treading competition and at the same time they know this special tradition, from which come the world renowned Friulian wines.

A music, dance, beauty and grapes and wine scent party, just as in the agricultural world of the past.
This event attracts a lot of tourists also thanks to its wonderful location: the central and famous Beach Village, next to the Terrazza a Mare. All guests in the apartments of Lignano Sabbiadoro can easily reach it through the pedestrian zone, because it is located in front of Piazza Fontana, or with a romantic walk along the promenade.
